"An Extended Look" at GTA6 premieres August 27 — here's how to watch
Rockstar's next official reveal drops Thursday: Netflix first at 3pm ET, then free on YouTube and the GTA6 site at 9pm ET. What it is, when to watch, and what it means for streamers.
The next official look at GTA6 arrives Thursday, August 27 — and for the first six hours, it lives on Netflix.
The schedule
- 3:00pm ET / 12:00pm PT — Netflix. Subscribers see "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" first, as part of what Rockstar and Netflix call a first-of-its-kind partnership.
- 9:00pm ET — everywhere. The same video lands on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the GTA6 site, free for everyone, on demand from then on.
Rockstar hasn't said how long it runs — numbers floating around are secondhand, so set your expectations by the title: an extended look, arriving twelve weeks before the November 19 launch.
What to actually expect
Netflix calls it "the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story." Nobody outside Rockstar knows precisely what's in it — gameplay systems, map material, story, or all three. What we do know: it's the first substantial official release since Trailer 2 in May 2025, and everything it shows becomes real, citable, confirmed information the moment it airs. For streamers: a heads-up
Reaction content to an official trailer is normal and safe — the video will be public on YouTube from 9pm ET. Two cautions anyway:
- Don't restream the Netflix window. The first six hours are a Netflix exclusive; capture-streaming a subscription service is a strike risk no launch-week channel needs. React after 9pm ET when the YouTube version is up, or talk over your own screen-free reactions before then.
- The leak is a different animal. Leaked clips are under active takedown — showing them on stream is asking for a copyright strike twelve weeks before the most important streaming month of your life. Thursday night is effectively the starting gun for launch season. If you've been meaning to claim a founding streamer spot, doing it before the Extended Look wave hits is exactly the kind of early that founding is for.
