Capture GTA6 clips on PS5 — no capture card needed
The PS5 is always recording. How to save the moment after it happens, trim it on-console, get it to your phone, and post it where people will actually see it.
The best GTA6 moments won't be the ones you plan — they'll be the chase that goes wrong in exactly the right way. The PS5's capture system is built for that: it's always recording in the background, so you save the moment after it happens.
Save the moment you just lived
- Press the Create button.
- Choose Save Recent Gameplay.
- Pick a length — grab the short version for a clip, or up to the last hour for a full session chunk.

Set yourself up before launch
In Settings → Captures and Broadcasts, check two things now:
- Video clip resolution/format — record at the highest quality available; you can compress later, but you can't add quality back.
- Shortcuts — configure the Create-button shortcut behavior so a double-press or long-press does what you want without opening the menu.
Getting clips off the console
- PS App (easiest): captures can sync to the PlayStation App on your phone, and from there you save to your camera roll and post anywhere. Enable it in the app once and your clips just show up.
- USB drive: for full-quality longer recordings, copy from your Media Gallery to a USB drive and edit on a computer.
- Trim on-console: the Media Gallery has a basic trimmer — enough to cut a 60-second clip down to the eight seconds that matter.
The eight-second rule
A clip is not a highlight reel. The clips that travel are one beat: the jump that shouldn't have worked, the NPC with perfect timing, the plan collapsing in one frame. Cut everything before the beat, end right after it. If you're explaining the clip in the caption, the clip is too long.

Everywhere, honestly — but launch week is a firehose, and generic uploads drown.
