The GTA6 launch-night streaming checklist
Everything to have done before November 19 so the only thing you're doing at midnight is playing. Preload, test broadcast, titles, storage, and a plan B for when servers wobble.
Launch night rewards the prepared. Every minute you spend fixing something after the game unlocks is a minute the biggest audience of the year watches someone else. Work through this list in the week before November 19 — the night itself should be zero setup, all game.
The week before
- Preload the moment it's available. Do not plan to download a Rockstar-sized game on launch night on launch-night internet.
- Clear storage. Expect a big install — Rockstar hasn't published a final size, so leave yourself generous headroom on the internal SSD, and move games you're not playing to an external drive now.
- Run a full test broadcast with any game: title, mic level, chat overlay, camera if you use one. Ten minutes. Find the problems while they're free.
- If you stream to YouTube: confirm live streaming is already activated on your channel — first-time activation can take 24 hours. (Twitch: confirm 2FA is on and the account link works.)
- Announce your schedule. Even three followers who know when you go live beat thirty who find out after. Post the date and time everywhere you exist online.
The day of
- Console housekeeping: restart the PS5, check for a day-one game patch early, and let it finish before your start time.
- Do Not Disturb everything. Phone, group chats, console notifications. One popup can spoil a story moment for you and your whole chat.
- Write two stream titles in advance — one for the first session ("GTA6 launch night — no story spoilers in title, come hang") and one for later. Deciding titles at 11:58pm produces bad titles.
- Water, food, comfortable seat. You're about to sit for six hours. Streamers forget they have bodies.
Your plan B, because servers
Every giant launch has a rough first night somewhere — store outages, login queues, patches. Decide now what your stream does if you're stuck in a queue:
- React to the wait honestly — a chill "we're all in the queue together" stream builds more community than rage.
- Replay and commentate your favorite trailer moments or your own older clips.
- Talk plans: what you're doing first, what chat is doing first, predictions.
Dead air kills streams; a queue doesn't have to.
After the first session
Clip your best two or three moments while they're fresh — the PS5 saves recent gameplay, so grab them from the Create menu before you sleep. Founding streamers on [YallLive](/streamers) get their channel linked from the live board all launch week — the audience is looking; be findable.
